About Me

Hey y’all! My name is Joanna Carroll, and I own and operate Joanna Banana Photography. I have loved the art of photography all of my life, even as a young child. My parents bought me my first camera when I was a teenager, and I have been studying and learning ever since. I married my high school sweetheart, Luke, in 2005. We now live in Pell City, Alabama with our 5 children and 7 dogs (yes, you read that right, 5 children and 7 dogs... and 2 fish).

I have worked in many different career fields throughout my life and am grateful for each and every experience. In October 2021, I finally decided to pursue my passion for photography as a career. To honor my parents for their constant encouragement and guidance, I named my company Joanna Banana Photography as “Joanna Banana” was a childhood nickname my parents gave me. Three months after starting my photography business, I lost my mom to Covid. She was one of my biggest supporters, and I wish so much that she could have stayed a little while longer to enjoy this journey with me. I now, more than ever, want to serve people through photography as I know firsthand how priceless pictures of memories and loved ones can be.
